Poetry Potion 14 – This Way We Salute You

The theme for this edition of Poetry Potion borrows itself from the collection This way I salute you by the late Professor Keorapetse Kgositsile. This edition salutes Prof Kgositsile, the second South African National Poet Laureate who sadly passed on in January of 2018. Through poetry and prose we remember the immense contribution he has made to the arts and poetry in particular. In this edition our 25 contributors also salute the work of Black Womxn, the likes of Brenda Fassie and Maya Angelou. The Poets salute our mothers, ancestors, artists and mystics. Poetry Potion also gives a special salute to Poet and Jazz lover Myesha Jenkins.

Our poet muse in this edition is the ineffable Candy Royalle.

We feature two book reviews – Athol Williams reviews GAU-Trained by Flow Wellington and Quaz Roodt reviews feeling & ugly by Dr. Danai Mupotsa. Vus’umuzi Phakathi also talks to us about Current State of Poetry (CSP) and the work they do.
