This weekend, the first ever Essence Festival on African soil is taking place at the Durban ICC.
Hosted by eThekwini Municipality, the festival includes a book and art fair titled “ARTiculate Africa” divided into two sections: “Knowledge” and “ART”. The “Knowledge” programme is curated by Tiny Mungwe who has run festivals such as Poetry Africa, Time of the Writer and Durban International Film Festival so Essence Festival Durban promises to be a beautiful experience.
We’re exhibiting our Black Letter Media goodies. Yay! *voshos*

Essence Festival is “the party with a purpose”. This annual music festival was started in 1994 as a one-time event to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Essence Magazine. It is the largest event celebrating African-American culture and music in the United States. ((https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Essence_Music_Festival))
